COVID 19 Dental Transmission Risks, Protective Protocols and Medical Emergencies

Abstract

The outbreak of the (SARS-CoV-2) coronavirus worldwide had created a health emergency worldwide after the outbreak occurred in Wuhan, China. It can spread from animals to humans through respiratory route. WHO declared this as a Public Health Emergency Concern and named it COVID-19.  As it was declared a pandemic, the countries were asked to take necessary restrictive measures and protocols to control the spread of the virus. The virus was transmissible through droplet infection and aerosols production. It also hampered the medical emergency protocols taken during the dental treatment. Through this article we aim to discuss the risks related to the dental practice, the protocols taken to stop or reduce the spread of the novel Coronavirus and also the management of the dental medical emergencies during the time of need.
