Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study the Ebian Yi folk singing and performance based on the regional cultural symbols with the Ebian Yi regional culture as the background. The research methods are the literature research method, the field investigation method, and the interview method. Research indicates that folk songs of the Yi people of Ebian have a distinctive regional character and can vividly reflect the local culture. They have been passed down from generation to generation in this specific area of Ebian, and their content and form are closely related to the lives of local people. Ebian Yi folk songs are actually a regional symbol, with a specific signifier system, a signified system, and cultural symbolic meaning. The folk songs of the Yi people of Ebian have distinct ethnic styles and local characteristics. The timbre, phoneme, performance, dress, performance style, etc. that they sing are all signifiers of signs, and the meanings of these behaviors are all signified by signs.
