Abstract

The severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus (COVID 19) pandemic was first reported in Hubei Province of China. The outrage of first wave of COVID pandemic has swiped many lives and caused the country to shut down and shield its citizen, which has increased fear among the citizen and elderly people. Till 2050 the proportions of the world’s population over years will nearly double from 12 % to 22%. With increasing number of COVID patients, mental problems in elderly population are also rising such as health related anxiety. Aim of the study: “An exploratory study to assess the anxiety level among the post covid senior citizen residing in selected areas of Pune city”. Objective of the study: To assess the anxiety level among post Covid senior citizen and to associate the finding with selected demographic variable. Material and method: In present study researcher adopted quantitative approach and exploratory research design. It was carried out on 200 participants. The data was collected from recovered Covid 19 patient. The Non probability purposive sampling technique was used. Data was collected using standard tool. Tool validity was done by experts from mental health, community health and Medical Surgical department. Reliability was done by using split half method. The value of reliability is 0.92. Pilot study was done on 20 participants. Study was found feasible. Result: The study clearly indicates presence of anxiety among post Covid senior citizen. Men have more anxiety than women. Along with the fear of isolation. Dizziness and fear of exposing again to Covid. Conclusion: The study interpreted: - Majority of samples 85℅ of the senior citizens are showing mild level of anxiety.12℅ of senior citizens are showing moderate level of anxiety. 3℅ are showing extreme level of anxiety.
